Annoncing: Greenfield Public Library’s Spice Club, beginning Monday, May 9.

Do you love to cook and want to try new flavors and recipes? Are you tired of cooking the same old thing and want to try something new?

We have just the recipe…time to get spicy and join the Greenfield Public Library’s new Spice Club!

Each month we will feature a new spice and make it available in a take-home kit; in May, the spice is cumin.  Each kit will contain a small sample of the spice, recipes, a brief history, and links to our library databases featuring recipes that use the spice.

We will kick things off by exploring the spices often found in the spice blend Garam Masala.  (Spoiler Alert: we will be adding a little extra of each monthly spice for you to save and make your own Garam Masala for December’s recipes).

Spice kits will be available on the second Monday of each month.

Registration is required, and supplies are limited.

Spice Kits are limited to the first 30 people who sign up, but the recipes are available to everyone. Here’s some information about the spice and some ideas about what to do with it.

NOTE: May’s program is full.

Scroll down for more information about the May kit.

GPL staff found these recipes using our new database: AtoZ Food America and AtoZ World Food databases, which are accessible to Greenfield Public Library cardholders.

These resources come with thousands of recipes, hundreds of fascinating culture and ingredient articles, and essential culinary resources, AtoZ Food America covers six US regions, 50 states, and 33 ethnic cuisines.

The Spice Club program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library. The program is free and intended for ages 13 and over.
