September Spice Club: Cloves

Do you love to cook and want to try new flavors and recipes? Stop by the library and pick up this month’s Spice Club Kit, available on Monday, September 12.

In September, we are cooking with cloves as we continue exploring the spices often found in the blend of Garam Masala. (Spoiler Alert: we add a little extra of each monthly spice for you to save and make your own Garam Masala for December’s recipes).

As the summer winds down, it’s time to begin thinking about Fall flavors. Cloves are a big spice in a small package: we have included recipes using the spice with apples, carrots, and red onions, all readily available at local farm stands!

This month’s spice kit contains a sample of both ground and whole cloves, recipes, a brief history, and links to our library databases featuring recipes that use the spice.

Registration is not required, but supplies are limited. The spice kits will be available on the 2nd Monday of each month, at the Main Circulation Desk, on a first come, first served basis.

Unavailable to make it into the library to pick up a kit?

Not feeling inspired We have all the recipes for this and previous spices available on our blog.

Check here for: Cumin, Coriander, Black Pepper and Nutmeg.

This program, generously supported by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library, is free and intended for ages 13 and over.
